Authors:Danielle PatryLouise LegaultPaul LalondeJulie Rodier

The purpose of this report is to document the 24-month post-program impact of the Readiness to Learn in Minority Francophone Communities project (abridged titled: Readiness to Learn project1), a demonstration project funded by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC).

The services of the Social Research and Demonstration Corporation (SRDC) were retained to implement, manage, collect and analyze project data. The project is testing a preschool program2 that combines a child care program specifically developed to meet the needs of Francophone children in minority communities with a family literacy component targeting the parents of these children. The goal of this program was to develop the child’s language skills, knowledge and use of the French language, as well as knowledge and identification with the French culture. Globally, the program aimed at fostering school readiness and children’s overall development
